Bill Maher (rower)

William "Bill" Patrick Maher (born June 25, 1946) is an American rower who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the men's double sculls. In 1969, he rowed for the Vesper Boat Club.〔("Yanks Nab Henley Rowing" ) The Palm Beach Post. 5 July 1969〕
He was born in Detroit.
In 1965, rowing for the Detroit Boat Club, he beat Donald Spero the best American single sculler in the National Rowing Championships.
In 1967 he won the single again at the National Rowing Championships.
In 1968 he won the bronze medal with his partner John Nunn in the double sculls event.
In 1969, now rowing for the US Army at Vesper Boat Club, he won the single yet again, and then represented the US at the European Championships at Klagenfurt, Austria.
Also at the US Nationals in 1969, he stroked the winning Vesper Quad, teaming with Paul Wilson, Bob Arlett, and Bob Montgomery.
